1 Month

Silas is one month (and 14 days) old!

What has he been up to?  Well, for one thing, he has been growing a lot!  He had his one month check up last week and here are his stats:

weight:  10 lbs. 6 oz.  (48 percentile)
height:  22 3/4 in.  (74 percentile)
head circumference:  39.5 cm  (75 percentile)

We made our first trip home to Great Bend and Holyrood when Silas was 3 weeks old.  He got to meet some of his family including two of his great-grandmas.  I wish I would have gotten more pictures.  Here is a very special picture that I did manage to take.

This is my Grandma Crow.  Silas is her first great-grandchild.  She had a difficult time recovering from heart surgery and we weren't sure if she was going to ever get to meet him.  She is now doing much better and may even get to go home in a few weeks!  We are so thankful for her recovery!

Of course, Silas has gotten visits from Grandparents, many friends, cousins, aunts and uncles.

On Father's Day, we were able to take Silas to church for the first time.  It was an extra long service, but Silas slept through the entire thing.  Here's a picture of the guys in their blue stripes on Father's Day.

Eric went back to work 2 weeks after Silas was born.  I will have a total of 8 weeks off work, but I feel like that just won't be long enough!  I am enjoying my maternity leave immensely.  It is the best vacation I have ever had!  :)  We have a lot of fun during the day.  Silas loves going to Target and grocery shopping.  For some reason, he isn't a big fan of the mall, but really, what guy is?  I wish we could go on more walks outside, but lately it has been too darn hot!  Here are pictures of his first walk in our neighborhood.

Silas has started giving us smiles from time to time.  It's always hard to tell if it's a genuine smile or just gas, but at exactly one month old Eric got him to smile several times in a row by tickling him.  He will smile at me sometimes if I touch his nose and say "ding-dong" or play peek-a-boo.  Eric was holding him today while I was napping on the couch.  He said Silas looked over at me and gave a great big smile.  *Melt my heart*  :)

Silas is a pretty good sleeper.  We usually give him a bath at night and then he goes down around 11:00 pm.  Sometimes he wakes up for a feeding in the wee hours of the morning, but recently he has been sleeping till around 5:00 am.  The other morning he slept until 7:00 am which was a new record!

Lately this little boy has really started to enjoy bath time.  He likes to lick the water off of his face.  In related news, he has discovered how to use his tongue and he really seems to be amazed by it!

Silas likes for me to sing to him and to be bounced by daddy.  Sometimes Eric is the only one that can calm him down or get him to sleep.  He is a bit of a fussy boy at times but we think it is probably due to acid reflux and gas (he is a very windy boy!).  Hopefully that will start getting better soon.  During the classes that we took at the hospital, they told us that 6 weeks was the peak of crying for most babies, so hopefully we will pass that stage soon!

Fussy or not, he is such a sweet little boy and we love him beyond words!  We are enjoying watching him grow.  He already seems so big to me!

Isaiah 40:31
But those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength.  They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.

Wow! He really has grown already. He still looks so little though. He is cute as can be and love the smile.

What wonderful pictures! He looks so happy in the bath, and I'm glad he enjoys some shopping. Blessings to all, Oma Karen

I love the pictures & the funny captions. He is quite a "little tooter", too.

Can't wait to see him again. He is becoming his own little person.

We all love him dearly!
